Armenian delegation joins Africa climate summit

From September 8–10, an Armenian delegation participated in the Second Africa Climate Summit held in Addis Ababa.

Ambassador Mher Margaryan, Armenia’s representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and head of the COP17 negotiations team under the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, emphasized Armenia’s readiness to strengthen cooperation with African partners, highlighting shared challenges and mutual interests in biodiversity conservation.

Margaryan reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to take concrete steps within the framework of its upcoming COP17 presidency, expected in 2026, including voicing the concerns of the most vulnerable regions, promoting inclusive partnerships, and mobilizing international financing mechanisms.

During the summit, Margaryan held bilateral meetings with officials from various African nations to explore avenues for expanded collaboration—especially in the context of COP17.
