During a working visit to Crete, Armenia’s Ambassador to Greece, Tigran Mkrtchyan, gave an interview to leading regional outlet ecriti.gr , describing Armenian-Greek relations as those of “blood brothers,” while stressing the need to constantly nurture them through new initiatives.
Mkrtchyan noted that cooperation spans nearly all spheres.
“There is quite intensive cooperation in the field of defense, which I consider one of the most important,” the ambassador said, according to Armenia’s embassy in Greece.
He added that Greeks and Armenians are ancient Christian nations with independent ways of thinking.
“Recently, during one of my meetings, an official stressed that we share a common past, common pain, and have faced similar challenges. Agreeing with this, I emphasized that now we must focus on overcoming these difficulties together. Working jointly through crises can be an enriching experience. We can do so if we have the will to build, to create, and through that become stronger and more resilient, with unwavering determination to support each other.
One of the features of our nations is our value system. Greeks and Armenians, as ancient Christian peoples with independent thought, have repeatedly faced hardships throughout history. Yet I believe that this value system and the will to build a bright future will create opportunities for our peoples in the 21st century,” Mkrtchyan said.
