Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has called on the public to visit the village of Kirants in Armenia’s Tavush Province to personally assess the impact of the 2024 border demarcation process. His comments came in response to a question by opposition MP Anna Grigoryan of the Hayastan faction, who claimed the area lacks proper security guarantees and effective mechanisms.
Pashinyan stated that 50 new houses are being built in Kirants.
“For me, Kirants is an exemplary settlement. People used to say residents were leaving the village. At its peak, Kirants had 84 houses—today, 50 new homes are being constructed,” he said.
In 2024, Armenia and Azerbaijan carried out border demarcation in several parts of Tavush Province, including near Kirants. A modular school has also been built in the village.
The newly constructed school, with a capacity of 100 students, is located just 40 meters from the border with Azerbaijan. Some students have transferred to schools in neighboring villages, as parents are concerned about safety in a facility so close to enemy fire.
