Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov met with Brendan Hanrahan, head of the U.S. State Department’s Office of European and Eurasian Affairs, Minval.az reports.
Talks included the continuation of work on the so-called “Zangezur corridor” within the framework of the Trans-Caspian Regional Development and Partnership Platform, as well as investment in regional transport and logistics projects.
It was announced that a Strategic Working Group will be created to draft a U.S.–Azerbaijan Strategic Partnership Declaration. The initiative is seen as a foundation for strengthening the institutional basis of bilateral economic cooperation.
Azerbaijan outlined its priorities in cooperation with the U.S., highlighting economic reforms, an improved business environment, and large-scale infrastructure projects that present opportunities for American companies.
Three-way discussions in Washington also involved major U.S. institutions and corporations, including the Export–Import Bank, SpaceX, and ExxonMobil, focusing on new mechanisms for cooperation and investment initiatives.
During the Washington summit, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and U.S. President Donald Trump officially agreed to launch the Trump Route. The corridor will allow Azerbaijan to access Nakhichevan while, according to Trump, fully respecting Armenia’s sovereignty. He said Armenia is building an exclusive partnership with the U.S. to develop the route, with agreements lasting up to 99 years and renewable for another 99. Trump added that major infrastructure developments are expected, with American companies eager to enter the region and invest heavily, bringing benefits to all three nations.
