The Investigative Committee’s Lori regional office announced that the probe into the March 14 armed robbery in Vanadzor, in which three individuals are charged, has been finalized.
According to investigators, two men broke into the home of K.B. in Vanadzor, threatened him and his underage child with a firearm, and demanded money and jewelry. The victim handed over a jewelry box containing seven gold items.
Public criminal prosecution was initiated against A.A. and G.M. under Article 252, Part 3, Clause 2 (robbery) and Article 335, Part 1 (illegal circulation of firearms and ammunition). T.U. and G.P. face charges under Article 46-252, Part 3, Clause 2, for aiding the robbery.
A.A., T.U., and G.P. are in custody. G.M. was also placed under pre-trial detention but is currently wanted.
The case involving the three detained suspects has been forwarded to the supervising prosecutor with an indictment.
Earlier, the Investigative Committee stated that aside from testimony by Tigran Ulubabyan, who accused police officers of beating and torturing him, no other evidence had been obtained at that stage. Ulubabyan alleged that after the robbery, he was taken in for questioning, held overnight, and severely beaten and humiliated in the presence of the police chief. He was later arrested in connection with the case.
