Armenia’s National Assembly has ratified a cooperation agreement with Kazakhstan in the field of migration, approving it with 93 votes in favor and one abstention.
According to the agreement, citizens of both countries can stay in each other’s territory without a visa for up to 90 days. They can later apply for temporary residence permits for purposes such as work, study, medical treatment, or other personal reasons, reports Sputnik Armenia.
The migration authorities of both countries are obliged to exchange information about each other’s citizens present in their territories, as well as about violations of migration laws. In Kazakhstan, the responsible bodies are the Ministries of Internal Affairs and Labor; in Armenia, the functions will be carried out by the Police and the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Migration and Citizenship Service.
Kazakhstan’s parliament ratified the agreement on September 3.
Armenia and Kazakhstan are both members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), which guarantees the free movement of goods, services, capital, and labor.
