The United States intends to provide $145 million in assistance to Armenia for the implementation of the Trump Route. This was announced by Brendan Hanrahan, Director of the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, during a meeting in Yerevan with Armenia's Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan.
U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Kristina Kvien was also present at the meeting.
Deputy Prime Minister Grigoryan welcomed the visiting delegation and expressed high appreciation for the agreements reached during meetings held on August 8 in Washington. He emphasized that with joint cooperation, the bilateral relations between the Republic of Armenia and the United States could be further advanced within the framework of existing memoranda of understanding.
The parties discussed regional developments, potential routes for unblocking communications, and the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” initiative.
Hanrahan stated, “I’m pleased to share that, working with Congress, we intend to provide Armenia with $145 million in assistance. This is the first installment of funding allocated for the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity initiative and the associated agreements reached on August 8, aimed at supporting investments in trade, infrastructure, critical mineral supply chains, and cross-border security.”
During a trilateral meeting in Washington, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and former U.S. President Donald Trump officially agreed to launch the Trump Route.
“The corridor will allow Azerbaijan to access Nakhichevan while fully respecting Armenia’s sovereignty. Armenia is also establishing a unique partnership with the United States to develop this corridor. Its duration may be extended up to 99 years, with a promise to renew it for another 99 years after that. Major infrastructure developments are anticipated. American companies are eager to enter these countries and invest significantly, which will bring economic benefits to all three nations,” Trump stated.
