On September 12, Armenia’s Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan met with Brendan Hanrahan, a senior official at the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs. Papoyan said Armenia is highly interested in the TRIPP connectivity program and suggested implementing it via a PPP model, engaging private investment and drafting a roadmap for execution.
The talks focused on expanding U.S.-Armenia economic cooperation and increasing trade turnover. The sides also discussed deepening ties in agriculture, food safety, energy, high technologies, innovation, IT, the digital economy, and tourism.
Participants stressed the importance of strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation and expressed readiness to continue joint work to improve the investment climate and promote new projects.
A key part of the meeting was the Crossroads of Peace project, which Papoyan described as not only economically significant but also vital for strengthening regional peace and stability, fostering cooperation, and reducing tensions.
He added that Armenia values U.S. expertise and support in modernizing infrastructure and border security.
Earlier in Washington, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and U.S. President Donald Trump reached an agreement to launch the Trump Route.
“The route will allow Azerbaijan to reach Nakhichevan while fully respecting Armenia’s sovereignty. Armenia is also building an exclusive partnership with the U.S. to develop this corridor. The term may be extended up to 99 years, with promises of further 99-year extensions. Major infrastructure developments are expected, and American companies are eager to invest heavily, bringing economic benefits to all three nations,” Trump said.
