Henrik Malyan silver coin marks 100th birth anniversary

A commemorative silver coin dedicated to the 100th anniversary of renowned Armenian film director and screenwriter Henrik Malyan has been issued by the Central Bank of Armenia.

The obverse side of the coin features a self-portrait of Malyan, scenes from his films “Triangle” and “A Piece of Sky,” along with a film strip. The reverse depicts a portrait of Malyan, stylized mountains, and a film clapperboard.

The coin’s obverse and reverse designs were created by Lusine Lalayan and Vardan Vardanyan, respectively. The coin was minted at the Mint of Poland.

Specifications: face value – 100 drams, metal – 925 silver, weight – 28.28 grams, dimensions – 28.0 x 40.0 mm, quality – proof, edge – plain, year of issue – 2025, mintage – 300 pieces.

The Central Bank’s collector coins are available at the Dramaget shop located inside the CBA building, open to the public.

Malyan’s creative legacy includes numerous acclaimed films such as “Triangle” (1967), “We and Our Mountains” (1969), “Father” (1972), “Nahapet” (1977), “A Piece of Sky” (1980), “The Orchestra Guys” (1960), and “The Road to the Circus” (1963). His works were featured in prestigious international film festivals in Cannes, Delhi, London, Hong Kong, San Remo, Tokyo, and Manila, as well as in Soviet and Armenian film showcases held in the Netherlands, Italy, the United Kingdom, the U.S., Australia, France, Argentina, and other countries.
