Public and political figure Edgar Ghazaryan wrote on Facebook that the process of expressing no confidence in the prime minister (i.e., impeachment) is entering a new phase.
He stated that the parliamentary faction I Have Honor, which initiated the process, issued a statement today. A few days earlier, the faction's leader, Hayk Mamijanyan, announced plans to hold parliamentary hearings in September. According to Ghazaryan, the hearings are likely to revolve around that declaration.
He stressed the importance of consolidating all forces to bring this idea to life.
“At this moment, 99 out of the 107 Members of Parliament are not willing to support a no-confidence vote against the prime minister. Of these, 69 belong to the Civil Contract faction, 28 to the Hayastan faction, and 2 are unaffiliated with any faction. Hopefully, this ratio will shift in the coming days,” Ghazaryan wrote.
The I Have Honor faction has submitted a draft National Assembly statement titled “On expressing no confidence in the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia on the grounds of national crisis and governance failure.”
The faction calls on all political forces, civil society, and individual citizens who believe in Armenia’s future to unite around this, which they describe as the most realistic method for changing power at this time.
