Ruling Civil Contract MP Hovik Aghazaryan commented on the opposition’s initiative to launch a no-confidence motion against the prime minister, saying its success is practically impossible, Radar Armenia reports.
“With all due respect to Mr. Mamijanyan, there’s no need for big talk. Nineteen Civil Contract MPs would have to join the initiative, which is impossible,” Aghazaryan said.
The opposition has already initiated parliamentary hearings on impeachment. Asked if he would attend, Aghazaryan said it would depend on the date.
He also noted that a no-confidence vote against the prime minister requires 54 signatures.
“Whether they will succeed or not, I cannot say for certain,” he added.
Earlier, Hayk Mamijanyan, head of the I Have Honor faction, announced that the opposition plans to submit a no-confidence initiative against the prime minister and organize related meetings.
