On September 16, Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan took part in a roundtable discussion titled “Armenia at the center of regional and global geopolitical changes” at the French Institute of International Relations (IFRI) in Paris, the Foreign Ministry reported.
Kostanyan outlined Armenia’s main foreign policy directions, presenting the country’s diplomatic priorities and current relations with neighboring states. He discussed the normalization process between Armenia and Turkey, as well as the latest developments in Armenia-Azerbaijan relations.
He highlighted the agreements reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan on August 8, 2025, in Washington, stressing their importance for regional peace and stability.
The deputy minister reaffirmed Armenia’s determination to achieve lasting and balanced peace in the South Caucasus. He also presented the opportunities offered by the unblocking of regional communications, which could significantly contribute to expanding economic and infrastructural cooperation.
Participants in the event included representatives of French government agencies, policy experts, journalists, and diplomats accredited in France. The roundtable was moderated by Thierry de Montbrial, founder and president of IFRI.
On August 8, a trilateral meeting at the White House between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev resulted in a joint declaration. On the same day, Armenian FM Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani FM Jeyhun Bayramov, in the presence of the three leaders, preliminarily signed the Agreement on Peace and Establishment of Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
