Cyclone from Black Sea to hit Armenia

An active cyclone is approaching Armenia from the Black Sea and is expected to impact the country beginning the evening of September 18, according to Gagik Surenyan, Deputy Director of the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center, who shared the forecast on Facebook.

Surenyan noted that rain and thunderstorms are expected in some regions overnight, with widespread precipitation anticipated throughout the country during the day on September 19.

From the evening of September 18, and during the night of September 19, as well as on September 20–21 and the night of September 22, short periods of rain and thunderstorms are expected in certain regions. On September 19, daytime precipitation and thunderstorms will be widespread, with heavy downpours and possible hail in some areas. Dry weather is forecast for the daytime of September 22 and all day on September 23.

Air temperatures will drop by 8–12°C on September 19 and rise again by 4–5°C on September 20.

Winds will be northeastern at 5–9 m/s, intensifying during thunderstorms to 18–22 m/s.

In Yerevan, brief showers and thunderstorms are possible on the evening of September 18 and during the day on September 21 in parts of the city. On September 19, intermittent rain and thunderstorms are expected throughout the day, with wind speeds reaching 15–17 m/s during storms. Dry weather is forecast for September 20 and from September 22–23.

In Yerevan, daytime temperatures on September 19 will range from +18 to +20°C, dropping to +13 to +15°C in the evening.
