Deputy PM Mher Grigoryan confirmed Armenia’s support for a multimodal freight project linking Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Iran, and Armenia, calling it vital for regional connectivity.
At the 11th meeting of the Armenia–Kazakhstan intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, held online, Grigoryan stressed the project’s alignment with Armenia’s Crossroads of Peace initiative. His Kazakh counterpart, Deputy PM and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin, also took part.
The two sides signed a protocol outlining cooperation in trade, high technologies, transport, tourism, healthcare, and education. Grigoryan emphasized further development of relations with Kazakhstan, including within the Eurasian Economic Union, and noted untapped trade potential.
He highlighted an already functioning cargo route from China through Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Iran to Armenia as proof of growing interest in transport and logistics expansion.
“I believe these freight operations could become regular, especially considering Armenian entrepreneurs’ interest in the Khorgos International Center for Cross-Border Cooperation at the Kazakh-Chinese border,” Grigoryan said.
He added that strengthening regional transport and logistics infrastructure is crucial for Armenia in the context of implementing the Crossroads of Peace project, expressing confidence that both countries will continue to deepen ties based on trust, respect, and friendship.
