Armenia’s security chief avoids POW question

Armenia’s Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan has declined to comment on the possibility of Armenian prisoners of war returning from Baku with the head of the National Security Service (NSS).

Before the Civil Contract party congress, reporters asked Grigoryan whether it was possible that the NSS director could return from Baku with Armenian captives, according to Sputnik Armenia.

“The NSS has issued a statement. I can’t say anything beyond that,” Grigoryan replied.

Journalists also attempted to clarify whether any discussions had taken place around such developments prior to the visit.

“If there’s anything to report, the NSS will issue a statement,” Grigoryan added.

Earlier, Armenia’s National Security Service reported that a delegation led by its director, Andranik Simonyan, had traveled to Baku to participate in the 3rd International Security Conference being held from September 19 to 21.
