Pashinyan, Kos discuss next steps in EU-Armenia ties

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with European Union Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos and her delegation to discuss EU-Armenia cooperation priorities, upcoming initiatives, and potential areas for deeper engagement.

The sides reviewed ongoing EU-supported programs in Armenia, ways to boost economic partnership, and progress in the EU-Armenia visa liberalization dialogue.

Pashinyan expressed gratitude for the EU’s consistent support, stressing its role in advancing his government’s reform agenda. He noted that expanding cooperation in this area is outlined in the new EU-Armenia partnership agenda.

Marta Kos reaffirmed the EU’s strong backing for democratic reforms in Armenia and praised the country’s efforts toward regional peace, noting that this would further stimulate cooperation.

Pashinyan highlighted the importance of EU support for diversifying Armenia’s economy, developing infrastructure and transport, and strengthening small and medium-sized enterprises.

Both sides expressed readiness to maintain close cooperation aimed at strengthening democratic institutions, advancing economic development, and preserving regional peace and stability.

During her press remarks in Yerevan, Kos stated that the EU plans to allocate over €200 million to Armenia under the second phase of the Resilience and Growth Program. She noted the EU is ready to support Armenia across various sectors including transport, digitalization, trade, energy, and infrastructure, aligned with the Crossroads of Peace initiative.
