Armenian exports drop 53%, domestic goods rise 10%

Presenting a mid-year budget performance report at the National Assembly’s financial committee, Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan announced that Armenia’s exports dropped by 52.8% in the first half of 2025.

He explained the decline was due to a sharp fall in re-exports of gold, silver, and platinum. “The most important and encouraging point is that exports of Armenian-origin goods increased by 10.3%,” he said, according to Armenpress.

From January to June, imports fell by 38.6%, also because of the reduced re-export volumes. Excluding this factor, imports actually rose by around 7%.

Recently, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk said trade between Russia and Armenia had “significantly decreased” and may end the year at about half of last year’s $12.4 billion, dropping to around $6 billion.
