Head of Armenia’s delegation to NATO’s Parliamentary Assembly, Andranik Kocharyan, commented on the ongoing 108th Rose-Roth seminar in Yerevan, noting that Armenia is an associate member of the NATO PA, but its powers expanded somewhat in 2024.
“This means we now take part in information processes and, when necessary, have the opportunity to ask questions and receive answers on issues that concern us,” Kocharyan told 1lurer.am.
He added that associate members’ authority “has now been increased.”
Kocharyan recalled that the Rose-Roth seminar was last held in Armenia a decade ago. “When the proposal was made to our delegation in the U.S. during the NATO PA, we gladly accepted, recognizing this platform could be very useful for regional peace and achieving our goals.”
He highlighted senior NATO officials’ speeches that stressed the importance of global peace, adding: “And in the Caucasus, peace is primarily up to us. We must build our vision of peace within concrete documents, a process already launched in Washington.”
Explaining Armenia’s initiative to host the seminar, Kocharyan said the goal was to bring the Caucasus agenda to Armenia and discuss it with representatives of both NATO members and non-members.
Delegates from Turkey and Azerbaijan are also attending the Yerevan NATO seminar. The last such event in Armenia took place in 2015.
