ENA interim chief says huge salaries affected power prices

Romanos Petrosyan, interim administrator of Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA), stated on Facebook that the company’s former board chairman received more than 347 million drams in total compensation in 2024, including taxes.

According to Petrosyan, these multimillion salaries awarded to former ENA executives directly or indirectly impacted the electricity tariffs paid by Armenian consumers.

“In September 2024 alone, the compensation reached 73,253,765 drams, while in March, June, and December it was 70,393,750 drams per month, all inclusive of taxes. These astronomical remunerations given to the top leadership of ENA have inevitably, in one way or another, influenced the electricity prices paid by our people. ENA must serve our people,” he wrote.

Earlier, Narek Karapetyan, Vice President of the Tashir Group and current Chairman of ENA’s Board of Directors, responded to Petrosyan’s statements. He claimed he has received no salary in the nine months since his appointment and has redirected his entitled compensation toward bonuses for lower-paid energy sector staff.
