Armenian National Assembly Deputy Speaker Ruben Rubinyan reacted to the September 23 armed attack in Merdzavan, which claimed the lives of Parakar community head Volodya Grigoryan and his friend, a police officer.
“I am shocked by the news of the murder of Parakar mayor Volodya Grigoryan and a police officer. I offer condolences to the families of the victims. The criminals must be swiftly identified and punished,” Rubinyan wrote.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also condemned the armed attack and called on law enforcement to promptly find and bring to justice all those involved.
On September 23 at 11:52 p.m., police received reports of gunfire on Yerevanyan Highway in Merdzavan, Armavir Province. Two people were killed, including Volodya Grigoryan, mayor of Parakar and member of the Country to Live party’s political council, who had been elected in April 2025. He was the father of four. One person was injured.
