Artak Hovhannisyan, senior investigator of the General Department for Special Cases of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, announced at the crime scene that the murder of Volodya Grigoryan, head of the Parakar community, has been transferred to the Special Investigation Department.
“A masked individual fired from an assault rifle at Parakar mayor Volodya Grigoryan, police officer Karen Abrahamyan, and civilian Artsrun Galstyan. The first two were killed,” Hovhannisyan told reporters, according to Panorama.am .
Another representative of the investigative group said the apartment opposite the site of the shooting is currently unoccupied.
When asked by journalists whether any suspect had been identified, Hovhannisyan replied: “At this moment, there is no suspect.”
On September 23 at 11:52 p.m., police received a call about gunfire on Yerevanyan Highway in Merdzavan, Armavir Province. Two people were killed, including mayor Volodya Grigoryan and an off-duty criminal police officer, and one person was wounded.
