China ready to boost strategic cooperation with Armenia

On September 22, the Armenian Embassy in China held a reception at the China World Hotel in Beijing to mark the 34th anniversary of Armenia’s independence.

The event was attended by Anna Hakobyan, Executive Director of the My Step Foundation and spouse of Armenia’s prime minister, along with representatives of Chinese state institutions, ambassadors accredited in Beijing, heads of international organizations, diplomats, public figures, and members of the Armenian community in China.

China was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Liu Bin, who warmly congratulated Armenia on its national holiday. “China, as a good friend and partner, sincerely welcomes Armenia’s progress,” he said, stressing that Beijing is prepared to expand cooperation by treating the strategic partnership as an opportunity to strengthen political trust and broaden mutually beneficial ties.

Armenia’s Ambassador to China, Vahe Gevorgyan, noted that diversifying and balancing diplomatic relations, based on fundamental principles of international law and peaceful coexistence, remains a key priority of Armenia’s foreign policy.

He recalled the agreement reached between Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Chinese President Xi Jinping during their meeting in Tianjin to elevate Armenian-Chinese ties to a strategic partnership, underlining this as proof of both sides’ readiness to deepen cooperation and provide mutual strategic support.

According to the ambassador, the joint declaration both summarizes the results of Armenian-Chinese cooperation and sets new ambitious goals, giving bilateral relations renewed meaning and perspective. He also emphasized the importance of cooperation within the frameworks of China’s “Belt and Road” initiative and Armenia’s “Crossroads of Peace” program.

The event concluded with musical performances by winners of the Aram Khachaturian Youth International Competition, followed by a reception.
