Armenian, Lebanese FMs discuss Middle East developments

On the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with Lebanon’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Youssef Raji, the Armenian MFA reported.

The discussion covered recent developments in the Middle East.

Both sides underscored their readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation, building on the strong foundations of traditional friendship between Armenia and Lebanon.

Mirzoyan and Raji also exchanged views on ongoing regional developments. Minister Mirzoyan outlined the details of the August 8 agreements, emphasizing their core principles and the new opportunities emerging through the implementation of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity communications initiative.

France has joined several Western nations in recognizing the State of Palestine. President Emmanuel Macron said the move aims to support peace. In early September, 142 UN member states adopted the New York Declaration, a resolution supporting steps toward a two-state solution and calling for a Palestinian government without Hamas. On June 21, 2024, Armenia officially recognized the State of Palestine. The move was welcomed by Palestine and strongly criticized by Israel.
