In New York, Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan met with Franco Spicariello, AWS Director for EU and Mediterranean Europe Public Policy, and David Roth, Amazon’s Director of International Public Policy.
The meeting focused on the prospects for developing high technologies in Armenia and their effective application, stressing their importance for economic growth, fostering innovation, and strengthening competitiveness.
Khachaturyan highlighted the importance of effectively using Armenia’s renewable energy potential, noting that it not only supports energy sustainability and long-term development but could also serve as a reliable source for advancing artificial intelligence and high-tech sectors.
The two sides also discussed cooperation in cybersecurity, viewing it as a crucial element for the stability of the information society and effective public governance. They emphasized the need for knowledge exchange, joint initiatives, and the introduction of advanced tools to ensure high levels of cybersecurity.
The president expressed appreciation for AWS’s continued support in the framework of the Virtual Institute of Artificial Intelligence. They also discussed prospects for developing a joint program aimed at applying AI tools in public policy-making. This initiative could become an important foundation for improving governance efficiency and shaping an innovative policy culture in Armenia.
