Matenadaran, Turkey’s patriarchate plan joint manuscript research

On September 25, a delegation led by Ara Khzmalyan, Director of the Matenadaran, visited the Armenian Patriarchate of Turkey, where they were received by Patriarchal Vicar Rev. Fr. Grigor Tamatean.

During the meeting, the sides discussed plans to implement the joint declaration adopted at the International Congress of Armenology. Central to these efforts are deeper scientific analysis of the Patriarchate’s manuscript heritage, publication of the findings, introduction of monitoring mechanisms, and restoration projects.

Khzmalyan confirmed readiness to initiate the training of a Patriarchate representative at Matenadaran. The training will take place during the Figures of Memory scientific-practical seminar, scheduled for October 14–25.

According to the same source, a senior manuscript curator and a doctoral student from Matenadaran are also expected to visit the Patriarchate in the near future to carry out manuscript research work.
