Armenian MPs propose January 27 as Day of Remembrance

A new legislative initiative has been introduced in Armenia’s National Assembly, proposing to designate January 27 as a national Day of Remembrance for all military personnel who died defending the homeland.

The proposal was presented by Deputy Speaker of Parliament Ruben Rubinyan and independent MP Gegham Nazaryan. Rubinyan announced the initiative on his Facebook page.

“Dear friends, in the coming days, Gegham Nazaryan and I will circulate a draft law declaring January 27 as the Day of Remembrance and Reverence. We need a special day to honor all those who have fallen in military actions across different times and to bow before their sacrifice for the homeland. According to the draft, this will be January 27, and as always, on January 28 we will celebrate Army Day as a symbol of continuing life and willpower,” Rubinyan wrote.
