Rubinyan demands ARF self‑dissolution for past corruption

Vice‑President of Parliament Ruben Rubinyan made a counterproposal to the opposition’s no‑confidence initiative.

“I propose that Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan declare that they are exiting politics, as the founders and leaders of the corrupt system that looted Armenia for many years, and as electoral fraudsters. I also propose that the ARF (Dashnaktsutyun) dissolve itself, because it was a party that, via Circular 004, effectively fixed a goal of renouncing Armenia’s independence,” he said, according to Radar Armenian.

When asked whether he would then step down, Rubinyan replied: “No. We will leave power only when the people say they no longer want us in power. The mechanism is known — elections.”

In parliament, the I Have Honor faction’s hearing is ongoing on the draft declaration on “national crisis and governance failure.”

To propose a parliamentary decision of no confidence in the prime minister requires at least 36 deputies. The opposition I Have Honor faction has 6 votes, and the Hayastan faction has 28, totaling 34. For the draft to pass, 54 deputies must vote in favor, meaning at least 20 ruling party MPs would need to join the opposition initiative.
