Armenia reaffirms support for CTBT goals at UN conference

Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan participated in the Conference on Facilitating the Entry into Force of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) in New York and delivered a speech.

In his remarks, he reaffirmed Armenia’s position in support of the nuclear non-proliferation agenda and the goals of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty.

He stressed that in the current security environment it is essential to ensure adequate international responses and commitments to address existing challenges.

Abisoghomonyan also urged states that have not yet signed or ratified the Treaty to do so as soon as possible. In this context, he recalled the UN resolution on the CTBT co-sponsored by Armenia.

The deputy minister further emphasized the importance of promoting capacity-building initiatives to ensure effective implementation of obligations under the treaty.

In Moscow, Prime Minister Pashinyan took part in the World Atomic Week conference and met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
