Lawyer Vahan Hovhannisyan, who represents Narek Ohanyan, accused of murdering Parakar community head Volodya Grigoryan and police officer Karen Abrahamyan, announced that he will prove his client’s innocence. He made the statement on his Facebook page.
"The defense will prove Narek Ohanyan’s innocence. We will also demonstrate that the narrative being presented to the public is, to put it mildly, groundless.
I offer my sincere condolences to the families of the victims. I also wish a swift recovery to the injured party. That’s all for now," the lawyer wrote.
On September 23 at 11:52 p.m., Armenia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs received a report of gunfire in the Yerevanyan Highway area of Merdzavan village, Armavir province. Two people were killed and one was injured. Among the deceased was Volodya Grigoryan, the mayor of Parakar and a member of the political council of the Country to Live party. He was elected mayor in April 2025 and was the father of four.
