The process of acquiring or terminating Armenian citizenship has entered a digital stage: from January 1, 2026, all applications and registrations will be carried out exclusively through a new electronic system, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.
To avoid long queues and technical failures, the citizenship management system will be pre-launched on October 6, 2025.
From that date, applicants will be able to access the new platform:
Starting October 6, it will be possible to:
- register online on the platform,
- create, edit, and submit a preliminary application for acquiring or terminating Armenian citizenship,
- book an appointment with the Migration and Citizenship Service, no earlier than January 22, 2026.
Armenian citizens will register on the system exclusively via the national identification platform “YesEm,” requiring an ID card and mID electronic signature.
Foreign nationals, refugees, and stateless persons may register either through strict identification or by validating their email, attaching a copy of their travel document.
After submitting a preliminary application, applicants must pay the state fee no later than 10 days before the selected appointment date. Failure to pay will result in cancellation of the booking.
On the appointment date, applicants must present original documents specified in the application and, depending on the case, pass tests on the Armenian language and the Constitution.
