The National Assembly has adopted a bill that tightens penalties for avoiding 25-day military training assemblies.
According to the bill, fines for evading reservist training will rise from the current 20 times the minimum wage to 15–30 times, while the maximum prison term of two years will increase to 1–3 years, Radar Armenia reported.
For avoiding compulsory military service, prison sentences will rise from the current 2–5 years to 3–6 years.
The authors of the bill stated that the changes are aimed at increasing responsibility toward military service and preventing draft evasion.
