Kapan named CIS Youth Capital for 2026

By decision of the CIS Council of Heads of State, the city of Kapan in Armenia’s Syunik Province has been designated the CIS Youth Capital for 2026, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports announced.

As part of the “CIS Youth Capital” international program, Kapan will host a wide range of events in 2026, including:

  • an official opening ceremony,
  • a CIS youth forum,
  • youth camps, training sessions, and roundtable discussions,
  • showcases of Kapan’s potential in supporting youth initiatives,
  • a session of the CIS Youth Affairs Council,
  • a formal closing ceremony.

The Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport will combine the resources allocated for the CIS Youth Capital and Armenia’s 2026 National Youth Capital programs. This move aims to significantly enhance the international visibility of Kapan and boost public engagement.
