Armenian EV market grows 4–5 times faster than Russia’s

Andrey Gurlyonov, CEO of Sitronics Electro, has stated that the electric vehicle (EV) market in Armenia is growing 4–5 times faster than in Russia.

He attributed this rapid growth to Armenia’s near-zero import tariffs on EVs and the availability of free parking for electric cars, as reported by RBC.

Gurlyonov also noted that commercial transport providers in Armenia have already switched to electric models, with electric vehicles accounting for 50% of the taxi fleet.

He further predicted that EV markets across CIS countries will experience double-digit growth over the next 3–5 years.

“We will see a sharp increase in the number of high-power charging stations above 150 kW, the development of charging hubs similar to those in China, the emergence of Plug&Charge services, and roaming access across different charging operators,” he said.

In the first nine months of 2025 alone, Armenia imported nearly 12,000 electric vehicles, up from approximately 9,000 in all of 2024.
