Before the court hearing in former president Serzh Sargsyan’s case, Hayk Mamijanyan, head of the I Have Honor parliamentary faction, told reporters that his bloc continues to follow its own political agenda and commitments.
“We stand by our word and lead this process ourselves. At this stage, the main emphasis is on collecting signatures from independent MPs,” Mamijanyan said, as reported by Panorama.am .
According to him, the most important step now is securing the participation of independent deputies, and their primary efforts are focused on that goal.
When asked about Robert Kocharyan’s statement that the impeachment process should be completed by the end of the year, Mamijanyan replied that no one can impose a deadline.
“No one can set a timetable for the Republican Party or the I Have Honor bloc. We’ve said and we’re doing exactly what we announced: we’re channeling all efforts to carry out the impeachment before the next elections. It would be good if all our colleagues supported us in this matter,” he added.
Currently, the I Have Honor and Hayastan opposition factions have jointly gathered 34 signatures for initiating a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. To succeed, they need 54 votes, meaning at least 20 members of the ruling party must back the motion.
