A meeting chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan focused on the draft framework strategy for developing a green, sustainable, and circular economy in Armenia, along with the corresponding action plan.
Participants reviewed the strategy’s legal basis, sectoral priorities, implementation targets, and both general and specific objectives. Key action steps and expected outcomes were also presented.
The strategy envisions activities across energy, transport, agriculture, urban development, industry, manufacturing, services, and several other sectors.
Its implementation is expected to stimulate sustainable economic growth, improve natural resource efficiency, expand the share of resource-saving industries, increase green job opportunities and private investment, and enhance productivity and competitiveness.
As part of the strategic framework, the government plans to introduce a taxonomy system to classify green, transitional, and enabling programs, and to establish monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to track the transition to a green economy.
Attendees shared views on the proposed guidelines and priorities. Measures to promote electric vehicle use were also discussed, including details of medium-term regulatory changes.
In closing, the prime minister emphasized the importance of targeted initiatives that align with sectoral policies and issued instructions for the next steps.
