National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan commented on former President Robert Kocharyan’s recent interview, stating via his Telegram channel that he had no intention of watching it.
“I didn’t watch Kocharyan’s interview and don’t plan to. I’ve seen a few clips online and a couple of quotes in the press,” Simonyan said.
He added, “There’s nothing new to expect content-wise, and aesthetically, watching or listening to that man is simply unpleasant. Those fake laughs, facial contortions, nonsense, and macho posturing don’t interest anyone anymore. No one’s told him, probably not to hurt his feelings.”
Simonyan further said that if Kocharyan has anything political to say, “the way has long been shown—let him gather the courage and debate the Republic of Armenia’s uniquely elected leader.”
He continued, “Although I’m sure the man who once called himself the only real man in the country is afraid, just like the other unelected ones.”
“Don’t be afraid. You’re all long political corpses anyway; you’ve got nothing left to lose. At least this way, we could find out which one of you is the bigger corpse. So go for it,” Simonyan concluded.
Robert Kocharyan recently said during a press conference that debating Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan would be ‘toxic,’ responding to Pashinyan’s renewed invitation for a public debate with Armenia’s three former presidents.
