Following recent events in the village of Merdzavan, part of the Parakar community, the police are conducting preventive operations within the scope of their legal powers. This was announced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, according to Factor.am .
As part of the ongoing criminal case, over 30 locations have been searched in collaboration with the Investigative Committee, based on a court order.
The Ministry emphasized that these actions are aimed both at preventing further crimes and ensuring the effectiveness of the investigation.
On the evening of September 23 in Merdzavan, a masked and gloved assailant approached three individuals near the newly built house of community head Volodya Grigoryan and opened fire. Grigoryan and two of his companions — Karen Abrahamyan, an officer of the Criminal Intelligence Department, and another friend — were killed. Artzrun Galstyan was injured.
On September 26, Narek Ohanyan was arrested in connection with the murder. He is the cousin of former Merdzavan mayor and Civil Contract party member Mher Akhtoyan. Narek is also the brother of Grigor Ohanyan, who was murdered in the same community in February.
On September 28, a second suspect was detained. He confessed to carrying out the shooting, and the murder weapon was recovered.
