On October 8, Armenia’s Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan received Figen Ilgaz, Vice President of Starbucks-Alshaya Group Eurasia, and Hanzade Kuğu, Director of Real Estate, to discuss the prospects of Starbucks entering the Armenian market.
According to the Ministry of Economy, the guests presented Starbucks’ mission and global presence, noting that the brand currently operates in 86 countries with more than 40,000 coffee shops.
The company’s representatives expressed interest in regional expansion, including potential operations in Armenia.
During the meeting, the sides discussed evolving trends in the café sector, the market’s untapped potential, opportunities for infrastructure improvements, and specific features of coffee consumption in Armenia.
“Bringing in high-quality international investment is a priority for Armenia, and we value your visit as a promising step in that direction. Armenia offers a stable, open, and reform-driven business environment, supported by a young and highly educated workforce, a growing tourism sector, and a dynamic, competitive consumer market,” Papoyan said.
The minister reaffirmed the government’s readiness to support Starbucks’ entry into the Armenian market, stressing that such a move would help stimulate both tourism and investment.
Deputy Minister of Economy Anushik Avetyan and Enterprise Armenia CEO Gohar Abajyan also took part in the meeting.
