Kolya Mikayelyan has been dismissed from his post as governor of Armenia’s Vayots Dzor province. The decision was adopted during the Armenian government’s October 9 session, Sputnik Armenia reports.
The item was included on the agenda under non-reportable matters.
Mikayelyan will be replaced by Vahagn Arsenyan, current head of the Jermuk community and son of former Republican Party MP Ashot Arsenyan.
Kolya Mikayelyan was appointed governor in December 2023. Following a recent cabinet session, he told reporters that he had not received an SMS from Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan about being dismissed. Mikayelyan said he was ready for anything, including stepping down without resistance.
