Head of the I Have Honor faction, Hayk Mamijanyan, announced that 34 members of parliament have now joined the initiative to express no confidence in Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
He said that the Hayastan parliamentary faction has returned the required form with all 28 of its members’ signatures.
“As announced during the September 26 hearings organized by the Republican Party’s parliamentary group, today the Hayastan faction submitted the form with all 28 members' signatures,” Mamijanyan wrote on Facebook. “Since June 7, 34 MPs have joined the initiative.”
The signatures from the Hayastan bloc have been transferred to the I Have Honor faction to be attached to the formal no-confidence proposal.
According to parliamentary rules, a no-confidence motion requires at least 36 MP signatures to be submitted. The I Have Honor faction has 6 MPs, and the Hayastan faction has 28, totaling 34, still 2 short. To pass, the motion would require 54 votes, meaning at least 20 MPs from the ruling Civil Contract party would have to support it.
