Armenia, Iran prepare to launch joint factories

Active preparations are underway to implement agreements between Armenia and Iran aimed at deepening economic cooperation and launching joint industrial ventures and factories. Steps and responsibilities for the next phase are being clarified, the Armenian Ministry of Economy said in response to a recent statement by Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mines, and Trade Mohammad Atabak.

According to the ministry, both sides are working to define the details of implementation, including operational steps and upcoming actions.

As part of the initiative, the two countries have emphasized the importance of forming working groups to institutionalize cooperation and ensure effective execution of the agreements. The Armenian side has already provided necessary data to move into the practical stage and is now awaiting a response from the Iranian side.

The sectors being discussed span a wide range, aligned with Armenia’s economic diversification strategy. Armenia is ready to offer full support to partners investing in various sectors.

The ministry noted that technical specifics and launch timelines will be finalized during upcoming bilateral discussions.

In its statement, the ministry added that Armenia-Iran trade and economic relations have seen steady growth in recent years. The active dialogue in August 2025 between sectoral ministries reflects expanding mutual interests and deepening cooperation.

They also highlighted the strategic importance of the Crossroads of Peace and TRIPP initiatives, which could provide a new regional cooperation platform by enhancing mutual trust and infrastructure development.

“These initiatives open new horizons for cooperation and offer encouraging prospects for strengthening economic ties and securing lasting peace in the region. Armenia values these opportunities and is ready to make full use of them for the welfare of our nations. We are confident in leveraging the economic potential of all regional countries, including our friendly neighbor Iran,” the statement said.

Iran’s geographic position, integration with regional transport networks, and access to neighboring markets create favorable conditions for deepening Armenia-Iran economic relations.

On September 24 in Moscow, Minister Atabak stated that Iran enjoys excellent relations with Armenia. He emphasized the growing scale of economic cooperation and confirmed a mutual agreement to open joint factories and production facilities in both countries.
