Speaking at the opening of Digitec 2025, Frank Hess, Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Armenia, stated that the event has become the most important technological and digital event not only in Armenia but across the entire Caucasus.
“I remember attending Digitec four years ago, and what I see now is on an entirely different scale,” Hess said, emphasizing the event’s expansion in both scope and content. He praised the progress Armenia has made in tech and innovation and added that EU support extends beyond the event itself.
“We proudly support Armenia’s education sector — essential for producing AI and tech professionals. We also support the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies. I’m truly impressed with Armenia’s achievements in this field,” Hess said.
He also mentioned that Armenia will host the COP17 UN biodiversity summit next year, expressing hope it will be as successful as Digitec.
Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan highlighted that Digitec serves as a platform to showcase Armenia’s technological progress and future direction.
He noted that in December 2024, Armenia passed a 7-year high-tech development law, allocating several hundred million dollars. In January 2025, customs procedures for dual-use and unclassified defense products were improved to assist engineering firms.
Hayrapetyan also recalled the strategic agreement signed with the U.S. on August 8, focusing on innovation in artificial intelligence and semiconductors.
Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan noted the capital’s active role as a partner this year, emphasizing how technology is being integrated into municipal governance.
“Technology is our tool to make the city greener, more efficient, and people-centered,” Avinyan said. He added that participants could explore Yerevan’s digital services, smart transport, and the “Active Citizen” platform during the expo.
Avinyan concluded by stating that Digitec fosters a new level of collaboration, uniting public, private, and international institutions to support Armenia’s sustainable tech ecosystem.
Digitec 2025 is held October 10–12 at Meridian Expo in Yerevan.
