Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan held a meeting with Armenia’s clinical residents, marking the launch of a new licensing phase in the country’s healthcare system.
“You are the first residents to receive a personal transitional license, allowing you to operate legally under a licensing framework that meets international standards,” Avanesyan told the attending students, according to the Ministry of Health.
The minister stressed that the reform must be implemented smoothly and collaboratively, taking into account resident feedback and addressing any issues that arise. The meeting included a detailed Q&A session for clarifying concerns.
Avanesyan emphasized that the reform is not aimed at limiting medical practice. On the contrary, it opens a new legal platform for residents to continue and advance their professional activities.
According to the established procedure, residents have until December 31 to pass the transitional license exam, with three total attempts (including one trial). The first exams have already begun, officially launching Armenia’s move toward internationally recognized personal medical licensing.
