In the past 14 days, Armenia has recorded 70 cases of coronavirus (2.4 cases per 100,000 population), down from 72 cases in the previous two-week period, according to the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

The positivity rate for testing during this period was 23.3%, a decline from 27.7% in the previous fortnight.

The new variant, named Stratus, often presents with hoarseness as a characteristic symptom in infected individuals.

Current data indicates that severe cases and hospitalizations mainly occur in vulnerable groups, particularly the elderly and those with underlying health conditions.

The new variant has been detected in 38 countries, including the U.S. and several European nations. It is spreading most actively in Southeast Asia.
