For the first time in 35 years, the leaders of Armenia and Pakistan met during the Middle East Peace Summit held in Sharm el-Sheikh.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif joined a brief conversation between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. A video of the exchange was published by Minval.az via its Telegram channel.
Armenia and Pakistan only recently established diplomatic relations, as Pakistan had not recognized Armenia previously. Formal relations were launched on August 31, 2025.
The Armenian prime minister traveled to Egypt to participate in the Middle East Peace Summit. More than 20 world leaders are expected to attend the summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, focused on the future of Gaza. The event, where a peace agreement is expected to be signed, is co-chaired by U.S. President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
