Trump says Pashinyan, Aliyev now sit together as friends

During the Peace Summit in Egypt, U.S. President Donald Trump again spoke about his involvement in the Armenia-Azerbaijan normalization process, addressing Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev directly.

“Here we have Armenia and Azerbaijan. Look, they are sitting right here. When I first met them in the Oval Office, they were seated on opposite sides. An hour later, they were hugging. Now they’re sitting together as friends, just look at them. I want to thank you both. That’s incredible,” Trump said, as reported by Factor.am .

The U.S. President had also mentioned Armenia and Azerbaijan during the summit proceedings.

“You’re on good terms now, aren’t you? It was a 32-year war, and we solved it in about an hour, right? They’re now on good terms. Thank you all for being here,” Trump said, turning to Pashinyan and Aliyev.

At the summit, the leaders of the United States, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey signed a ceasefire declaration for Gaza, serving as guarantors of an agreement aimed at ending two years of war.

Prime Minister of Armenia traveled to Egypt to participate in the Middle East Peace Summit. The summit, focusing on Gaza’s future, is set to host over 20 world leaders. It is being co-chaired by U.S. President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
