Elina Valtonen, the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Finland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, announced that the Minsk Group’s remaining structures will be dismantled no later than December 1. She made the remarks during a joint press conference with Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan while on a working visit to Yerevan.
Valtonen welcomed the joint appeal by Armenia and Azerbaijan to shut down the Minsk Group. “We hope this process will conclude no later than December. The OSCE stands ready to continue and expand cooperation in areas where it and Armenia can generate added value,” she said.
On August 8, during a trilateral meeting in Washington attended by Nikol Pashinyan, Donald Trump, and Ilham Aliyev, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov signed a joint appeal to terminate the OSCE Minsk Group’s processes and structures.
