Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the Armenian government is engaged in daily efforts concerning individuals held in Baku and is doing everything possible to achieve concrete results. He made these remarks during a briefing with journalists.
He emphasized that no public statements would be made until tangible outcomes are achieved, reports Aysor.am.
Regarding his recent trip to Egypt, Pashinyan called the summit held there “unprecedented” and noted: “I expressed my gratitude to the presidents of the United States and Egypt for the invitation. It was a great honor for me to attend this summit.”
The prime minister also touched on communication with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. “Our contacts are periodic. We previously met in Dushanbe and Copenhagen. Since the peace was confirmed on August 8, where we have been present, our interactions have continued regularly. Such meetings are officially acknowledged,” he said.
In September 2023, following a nine-month blockade and the ethnic cleansing of the Armenian population of Artsakh, Azerbaijan captured former leaders of Artsakh, including ex-presidents Arkadi Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, and Arayik Harutyunyan, as well as former state minister Ruben Vardanyan, foreign minister David Babayan, and several others. They face fabricated charges that could result in life imprisonment. A show trial began in Baku on January 17 against these former leaders.
