Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during a press briefing following a Cabinet meeting that since August 8, his contacts with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev have become regular. He noted that this trend reflects progress toward institutionalizing peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“Wherever we participate, especially since the confirmed peace on August 8, our interactions with the President of Azerbaijan have been regular,” Pashinyan said, as reported by Panorama.am .
He added that he was satisfied with his meeting with Aliyev in Copenhagen and, in general, with Armenia’s current communication with Baku, according to Sputnik Armenia.
Pashinyan emphasized that peace between the two countries is now a reality, and this fact is “hard to ignore.” The process of formalizing that peace through institutions is ongoing, he said.
Addressing the issue of the so-called “Zangezur Corridor,” Pashinyan declared that for him, the topic “does not exist.” He recalled that during the Copenhagen meeting with Aliyev, the matter was discussed and resolved with a mutual understanding that Trump Route would be referenced in both Armenian and Azerbaijani official statements, in the context of unblocking infrastructure and communication routes.
“The topic was removed due to lack of objective grounds,” the Prime Minister said.
Pashinyan and Aliyev have already met three times in October — in Copenhagen on October 2, in Dushanbe, and in Sharm El Sheikh.
