TRIPP project must align with signed agreements: Pashinyan

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that work is ongoing on the content and substance of the TRIPP project, and the process of drafting the document is underway. He made the comments during a press briefing, as reported by Aysor.am .

“There are elements on the table, and we must integrate them into a single document,” he said. “The first draft must be adopted, then the second, third, and so on, until the matter reaches its next logical phase.”

However, he stressed that “no solution can go beyond the principles enshrined in the Washington Peace Declaration.”

Pashinyan also addressed the “Zangezur Corridor” issue, stating that it is no longer on the agenda following the joint statement issued after the Copenhagen meeting. According to him, the issue has been officially addressed and is no longer relevant—“not at the textual level, nor at the political level,” he said, according to RFE/RL.

He added that under the Washington agreements, the only ongoing project on Armenian territory is the TRIPP initiative, also referred to as the “Peace Crossroads.” “There is no other project and there can be no other,” Pashinyan affirmed.

He emphasized that conclusions should be based on official texts.

In Washington, the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the United States—Nikol Pashinyan, Ilham Aliyev, and Donald Trump—officially agreed to implement the Trump Route (TRIPP), which allows Azerbaijan to reach Nakhichevan while fully respecting Armenia’s sovereignty. Armenia also entered into an exclusive partnership with the U.S. to develop the corridor, with a 99-year development right, extendable for another 99 years. Trump described it as a major infrastructure initiative that would attract significant American investment and benefit all three countries.

On September 11, Pashinyan clarified that Armenia has not leased land to the U.S., but rather granted a development right.
